    It looks like a relatively modern decorative piece, perhaps made in China/India/Indonesia. I have seen that worn, "antiqued" gold finish on other recent items. The 3 pads on the bottom are usually a sign of modern decorator items (unless you put them on, of course).

    It looks a bit like birch under the top layer.
