By the angle of the sun and development of the flora I would put it about June 11th

The guy on the left seems to be wearing a Poppy in his lapel, so maybe after 1918.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Except that they're sort of smiling, the way that they're dressed, could that be an image after a funeral????

Good observation! I noticed that too but after googling when poppies were first worn it was after 1921? I doubt people still dressed like that in those days? Or at least women anyway? All very confusing :(

How close to a time frame do you wish to get? I'd think it was turn-of-the-century-ish. From the women's dress... skirts just beginning to climb past ankles, sportswear influences can be seen.

Hi Debora, thank you for that. That's quite close to the time frame I had in mind too. The apparent poppy on the lapel of the left-most gentleman has confused me though... according to the internet poppies weren't worn until after 1921. I assume the type of clothing worn in the photo was out of fashion by then?

Yes you're quite right. I posted it before but hadn't really had responses in terms of dating the photograph.

Lloyd - The very first suggestion in that other thread was Deborah's "Edwardian." And, although not wishing to speak for her, I believe she meant that for both of the pictures posted in that OP (this picture being the first.) That would be my thought as well - first decade of the 1900's to (stretching a bit) WWI. Sometimes, older people do not change their wardrobe when fashions start to change, so going only on the clothing can be tricky.

ah I didn't realise I could have done that :/ I'm not very good with these type things! :( unfortunately my family can't place which house or who could be in the photo... hitting a brick wall at the moment :(

ah yes of course you're right! After reading it again I've just realised I only responded to her regarding the photo of the father and baby! I must have completely forgot about the other one (the group photo)! If the photo is of the Edwardian era can you make sense of what is on the lapel of the left-most gentleman? It looks to be a poppy but they didn't come in until after 1921?

I don't think that's a poppy in the sense that you mean it. Notice that no one else is wearing one. I have no knowledge of when poppies emerged as a tribute to WW1 dead, so I accept your statement of 1921. I just don't think this is one of those.

Fyi, here's what women were wearing in 1921. Notice mid-calf hems and straight silhouette with low waist.

    Hi,
I thought I saw this photo before.. I do not think that is a poppy in his label. I think it is a "Pink". Is it an USA or British photo?

I don't think it is a flower. I don't think it is in the lapel but in the pocket.
I think he took his glasses off and stuck them in his pocket.

That would be what the up and coming young society woman would have been wearing, but the older married women would be grumbling about these upshot young women and their deplorable wardrobes.
Notice the two ladies on the right have raised their hemlines to be a little more fashionable.
