Featured Robinson Crusoe Book

Hi all,

Have the following book and just wanted to check dating if possible. Based on the cover page MDCCCXL I was thinking 1840? I can't seem to find one with exact same cover though.
Any info appreciated.

 

1840 is correct.

 

The very first printing of R. Crusoe was in 1719.The only listing of your edition I could find offered on AbeBooks was $499.99.Of course there's a ton more booksellers online-good hunting & if you found it a Thrift Store-big congrats !

 

I don't know what edition @bosko69 found, but here is a listing for one, 1840, same publisher and illustrator, but different binding. It was not unusual for a publisher of that period to issue their edition in several different bindings. The one on ABE also appears to have been rebound sometime in its life.
