    What is the connection?

Six mid 20th (typo edited) century teaspoons by Gee & Holmes, Sheffield.

Unremarkable save for the initials CB or CR to handle and that each spoon has a name and number (possibly a year), and try as we may we can't make a connection between these names.

    six names are:

    Nero '58
    Worboy 74
    Brigand 72
    Gable 74
    Capstan '60
    Prussion '62

    Hi,
I am confused. You state "mid 10th century" spoons. The spoons look very 1960s to me. Could be race horses or dogs or any other type of animals might be birth years or event winners.

Yup, could be any of those, but if there is a discernible link someone on here will find it!

A question for you Rhiwfield -- is the one name really spelled "Worboy"?

I was just wondering if the name might have been a "play" on the famous racing horse "Man O' War"?

Unfortunately it is spelled Worboy, maybe the engraver had an off day!

Yacht club, and rather a minor one to go for EPNS spoons.

I have known entrants in races to get some token like this wheras the winners got more noticeable prizes. I have a pewter tankard in the shed somewhere for a race for vintage yachts on the Thames at St.Katherine's dock, just below Tower Bridge.

We got the prize because we were to only ones who turned up for the start, due to foul weather. Not a great Victory, but we had come all the way down the Thames from Isleworth that morning

Of course, it could be nothing to do with yachts, most people do not change their vessel every year, but they do not change their horses or pets that often either. However, if you are crewing, you could crew whatever boat needed you.

I think they are boats and CB may be a sailing club. If so, unless you decipher the name of the club, the boats could belong to the guy down the street and not be famous. Since they are different dates, perhaps they all belonged to one person who entered them in a local yacht club race and CB is his initials.
