Reverse painting on glass, was this from a pattern book or something?

I have a painting that is reverse painted on glass of an owl that is signed by the artist from the 80s. I found a nearly identical painting for sale on Ebay signed by a different artist, extremely close but with enough differences it's not exactly the same. So I'm guessing there was a pattern or something? Does anyone know?

??? Looks like the same signature to me...???

I found this one on Etsy.

 

Here is another from Etsy, they are similar but with enough differences they aren't exactly the same. There must be some pattern, kit or something going on.

Interesting! I guess it would have been some kind of a kit. I'm not sure how to find out more, though.
