I bought this reverse painted lampshade, because I wanted to learn about this kind of lamp in case something special came across my path. I started to look around and was told that it is not a Handel lamp. I also discovered that the base is an original Pittsburg Lamp Company base, but the shade is not. (This was relayed by George Sorensen of the Handel Lamp Co, who was very quick and informative.) This is as far as I got, so I need your help with any ideas about what this shade may be. The lamp is 22 inches tall, and the shade is 16 inches in diameter - so large but not as large as some. There are three painted motifs, and the remainder is sky. Does anyone have any pointers? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

It's really mellow looking when lit. Thank you.

I have seen these reverse painted lamps while wandering around the Internet. Mostly early 1900's.

    It's pretty cool I agree.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Does your lampshade have a thin metal rim around the bottom? It looks that way in your photos. That seems a little unusual among the reverse painted ones I've seen this morning in a search.

Good spotting. I thought so too. It would have prevented the edges from being damaged but alas it is painted.

Thanks -- I was hoping maybe it could be identified to one manufacturer that way. Oh, well!
