Reverse carved glass intaglio Cameo, Old or New?

And what are they. I picked these up at a thrift. I think I paid about $2.00 for the pair.
At first i thought earrings, but all of those i see are opposites and these are both facing the same way. And the black hair. was this something someone added because I can't find any like it. They are 1 1/4" long including the bales.

I'd be tempted to remove the paint...however, if they are 1980s or later, it's probably original.

 

The glass looks hand beveled. I don't think that would be true if they were recent.

I refer to her as "Headband Girl". She is quite possibly the most reproduced cameo/intaglio design out there. With the darkened hair, this is a variant I hadn't seen before, but her type is legion.



I believe she originated in W. Germany & for all I know is still in production. The cameos/intaglios are sold as components to jewellery makers far & wide.

 

I thought it was. It is rough not like pressed glass impression.

Should I try to remove the paint?

So, if the ones you bought, @916Bulldogs123 , are supposed to be for earrings, it's possible they were made to be assembled with faces going in opposite directions. If so, these two were not necessarily intended to be a pair (unless somebody wanted to wear them that way).
