Reupholstered Chaise Lounge in California. Date?

Hello all and thank you! I was at an antiques store in monterey on a trip and they were basically giving away this wacky chaise lounge. Well I'm a sucker for the wierd and had the perfect spot for it so it rode with us all the way home in the back of our SUV! Just curious if anyone knows when it might have been made? Appears to (maybe) be reupholstered and the wood and nails are making me think 1900-1920's but I'm no furniture expert. Thanks!

I think you are right on the date,and I think this may be a Mexican piece . A rural cabinet maker most likely.

 

Great thinking! Based on the craftsmanship I was thinking it was a local/regional piece too, and central California has really deep Mexican history so that makes sense! Thanks.

 

62" by 20" by 24" at top of headrest

 

Local carpenter OR inspired hobbyist. The bottom made of solid planks, to me, points that way. Could be made to work pretty good within the right decor. This type of crude fabric you see (though it has a light pattern) is probably meant not to sit/lay on directly but to be ready for the end buyer to cover with the fabric of his liking.
