Bought this at a good price, some damage to be expected, i.e. the crack across the front. Not a big deal, but wondering if there's room for improvement? Could it be enhanced by something like wood filler and a good polish? 1.jpg

I know they restore antique jet in Whitby, but don't know how.
The crack is so small, I don't think you can get wood filler in there. Also, I don't know if woodfiller expands under certain circumstances (heat, damp), causing more damage.

Hmmm, what about charcoal dust? Since they are the same thing:joyful: and yeah I have seen advertisements of jewelry repair in Whitby, but that might triple the cost :muted:

I'm trying to figure out the possible significance of the letters...if not simply a monogram of the wearer's initials.
I've seen AEI for Amity, Eternity, and Infinity.
And I've seen IMO for In Memory Of.
Yours looks like AMI/MIA/IMA/etc...? Or that a could be an e...

I saw both AEI and IMO here, perhaps intended to be read as both? Since these two are most common for mourning locket

Get a graphite stick or charcoal crayon, draw over the crack then use black Kiwi shoe polish.
Use the polish in a circular mode with your finger on a rag and add spit.
This how the military get the gloss finish on parade boots, spit and polish, Bulling
