Rattan tripod with Chinese brass bowl

Hi all,is this antique? Painted rattan tripod with engraved chinese bowl (dragon motif) The bowl has a good weight and marked ‘China’ I was thinking maybe ‘vintage’ but I found several similar bowls listed as
‘antique’. Is this correct? Is this a planter? The bowl fits quite securely (I can turn the whole
thing upside down without the bowl falling out) It stands 87cm tall. So maybe the bowl is antique? and the tripod was later made for it? Thanks

 

The tripod was made for something else.
The bowl looks early 20th century, and it also looks very uncomfortable suspended halfway down that big tripod. It has a pronounced footring, so it was meant to stand.

 

I appreciate the reply. Thanks AJ. I was wondering about the foot. So someone had themselves a poor marriage idea. Was only the equivalent of about $3 so that’s Ok.

 

Certainly is.
Maybe you can find a better match for the tripod.
