Questions On Old Ammo Pouch

Can anyone tell me if this ammo pouch is German, what the cross and "J" on the back represent, and if the number 41 under the name means 1941? I used Google translate for the word flawil and found that it means "flawless" in German...I'm wondering if that's the name of the company that made the pouch, and if Herm. Schadegg is the name of the original owner. Any help would be appreciated.

 

I just found information online that indicates this is probably a Swiss army ammo pouch. Would still appreciate any other comments and opinions.

 

these were not factory marked with the owners name...and yes the cross is Swiss.

 

made by homeworkers - still. a whole industry of small Alpine farmers that sew them from pre-cut leather pieces during wintertime. Hermann Schadegg in Flawil is the name of the employer that delivered the material to the yokels and brought the complete product to the army warehouse. cleaned and protectd with saddle soap or lard they keep more than a lifetime. I still have my gramps from WWI.

the measures hint at GP11 rounds that were the strongest around and we were shown that they hit through 1 cm of steel easily when used under 30 meters. also very effective on long range shooting.
