I have this old looking glass or something hand knotted purple necklace. I tapped the beads on my teeth and feels like glass or ? Each bead looks like it may have been molded, some beads have like a seam line.
I have been doing research on this off and on for almost 5 or so months and no luck, hopefully someone here can help me.

    Thanks

    Billy D.

Looking at the way your beads are strung, I would guess 1920s-30s. These were not high end beads to begin with.

I've always called these opera length. Ladies would have tied them into a knot at the bottom.

I wouldn't do that now as the thread is probably worn in spots and may break.

Those are 1920s or early 30s Czech molded glass beads. They never were expensive, and that stringing isn't long for this world. I would however put those under fluorescent light and then take them out in daylight and see if they change color. Probably not, but just in case.... They're begging for a restring either way.

I'd be sitting there, cutting the string apart, and hand-knotting them onto some new cord. Cotton cording frays and rots sooner or later, and then the necklace breaks. in this case only one bead would go skittering across the floor.

You might also check under "Flapper Beads" I have seen some beads of this length called that.
