Featured Pueblo Pot Mystery

    This small pot is a mystery to me. The clay itself seems almost undoubtedly Hopi: the thickness, the smoothness, the sound when I tap it, and the color of the unpainted areas.

    On the other hand, the designs on this pot seem not to be Hopi at all-- in fact they look totally to be from Acoma Pueblo.

    Huh?

    Maybe an Acoma potter moved to a Hopi village and melded the two traditions...

    Anyway, I think it's so cool and wanted to share. ...Again.
