I am certain this is from Mexico, but does anyone know if there is a special name for this type of weave, also any guesses on age, I know it is at least 9-12 yrs old as I have it about that length of time ,pictured on a double bed but is much larger so either for a King bed or a sofa throw is my thinking, also quite heavy, thanks for any insights IMG_4993.JPG

Are you certain this is from Mexico? I do see pyramids I think. I would think maybe an Egyptian jacquard bedspread, but can you get a close up of the weave please?

With the 2012 Maya hype the Aztec Sun Stone suddenly became the Maya calendar. But it is Aztec, and may have been used as a calendar, with the face of the sun deity in the middle. The exact use and symbolism is still not certain. Whatever the original meaning, it is beautiful
