I got this print the other day. It is signed in pencil. To me the last name looks like Fagan. I found a James Fagan, an American painter and etcher, who was born in 1864, but nothing similar came up under his name for me. The paper measures 13 1/4 by 17 1/4".
    Can anyone help?

Thank you @Houseful! I found that print, and I have to admit I totally forgot to check the signatures.
I am definitely not firing on all cylinders.

Would you call the young lady a Gibson Girl?

Could be, or just a pretty model.

She is called a Gibson Girl, because of Charles Dana Gibson.

Yes, you can call her a Gibson Girl or Gibson Girl-style if you prefer. Or you may can call her an American Beauty if you want to avoid the association with Gibson.

Apologies, I cannot help you further, but want to say how attractive this is and the frame is beautiful too.

They do suit each other, don't they? Only thought... Frame is a tad large for print.

I am fine with the size of the frame in comparison to the vignette-ness of the print.
Think it balances it off nicely.
I like the print and the frame very much! :cat:

I'm fine with it too. It's been in that frame for a long time.

She's probably been there from the jump, so I'd be fine leaving well enough alone.

That might lead to search results for hybrid tea roses and drown out the pretty ladyp picture.

Yes, certainly agree hard to search. But genuine term.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

This brief biography of James Fagan states that he died in 1918. It gives no source for that information, but could be correct.

James Fagan, born in 1864, was an American Etcher that worked in a realistic style. He favored naturalistic scenes of everyday life like people milling about, men working, and families interacting. Fagan was also interested in classical subjects, choosing to depict heroes from Greece and Rome as well as people in robes and classical dress. A well traveled man, he also created scenes from places like Cuba and the Netherlands. Fagan died in 1918. https://davidbarnettgallery.com/artist/james-fagan

Does anyone know why the print doesn't have any kind of a number on it?

I wonder is he had creative say in framing? Note, the frame's corner decorations match the flower in her hair. I like when they do stuff like that.
