Only picked up 3 pieces..there were more with this same mark but didn't want to spend alot on something unfamiliar. Initials are PVK with 2 Geese. A Square with some type of cross.

    Studio pottery?
Maybe someone who might be French or Swiss in heritage. Just guessing, as that is what came to mind when I saw the mark.

Thanks Clutter. I knew it was studio, but not you average "hobbyist". That gives me a starting direction.

The symbols look like a coat of arms / family crest type thing. A shield with a cross. The long necked birds over the knights helmet(?) with crown have crests on top of their heads. Peacocks?

I would have bought those solely for the interesting maker's marks too.

I agree, probably some type of arms. Those weird birds are emerging from a *crown* on top of a knight's *helmet* or a man's head. As weird as the whole scene is, I wonder if that shield is the man's chest. Why... well the bottom right corner of the shield looks like upper part of an arm; however, with that maltese type cross makes it more likely a shield being held at an angle.

Now for those birds, I'm not sure if they are peacocks, ostriches, geese, cranes... I suspect they are probably peacocks but their relative length and rubbery curving and turning looks more like ostrich maneuvers.

I'm also looking for information about this mark. Will let you know if I find anything. So far, my research led to this thread... and nowhere else. I must have bought one of the vases you left behind. :D
