Pottery planter ID?

This was my Grandmother's and Mom says she remembers it from wayy back (?). Won't be selling it, just want it ID'd.

Any idea on the decade?

I posted this to the PGP on eBay, the thought it was from a California pottery company. One suggested Friendship Pottery, but I thought they had a longer/larger maker's mark from what I found on Google.

it says U S A under the number where the white base is cutting across. It is incised or pushed into the base.

Two letters and the number 23. But on both letters, the bottom halves of them are obscured and the mid-points of the letters do not look even with each other, the first letter's mid-point is higher.

First letter guesses: F, B or E

2nd letter guesses: P, R, or B

Ideas? Look familiar to anyone?

Oops, it measures about 4 3/4" at the base, and about 5 1/4" high. Someone suggested Pacific Pottery, but changed their mind on that.

 

Yeah, not Pacific Pottery, but could be calif/Oregon 1960s-1970s, I have seen this PP attributed to Pacific Stoneware Inc of Oregon (Bennett Welsh). The high gloss glaze matches up to their late 1960s production pieces.

 

Yep, very 70s looking. But Mom says from the 40s? Maybe poor memory.
