Hi, I am hoping that someone can help me idenditvy this porcelain figurine. I have no clue about it, even if it is a male or female. It stands about 12 inches tall. Any help will be appreciated. IMG_2749.JPG IMG_2750.JPG IMG_2751.JPG IMG_2752.JPG IMG_2753.JPG IMG_2754.JPG IMG_2779.JPG

Looks like a lamp base & my SWAG would be 1940's - 1950's.

It's a guy, one of a pair with a gal, popular round the time of the King and I hitting the scene so early 50's most likely

It is a lamp ...minus the base and all hardware. A piece of Majolica...I'd guess around 1920-30. Hard to say where is was made, the base might have given us that. A lot of Majolica came from Czech, Italy, and Spain.

Lamp base as stated. Agree with blooey, one of a pair. Boy and girl.

I'm more inclined to the 1940s/50s California pottery. I think the King and I came out in the late 50s. If you look through the California pottery books, there was a lot of Siam type figures made before that.

I wouldn't call this majolica, but I have been and could be wrong.

It is pottery rather than porcelain - the King and I first appeared in 1944 although the musical hit Broadway in 1951

Awesome and thanks everyone. Lamp base is embarrassingly obvious once pointed out. I thought majolica but really had no idea. I know it caught my eye on the shelf and still looks pretty decent sitting on my desk. Thanks again.

Ok - according to Wiki, the book came out in 1944, stage play in 1951 and the movie in 1956.
I was only aware of the movie.
So the trend toward Asian figures would have started from people who read the book.
Reading - hmmmmmmm something people used to do to fill their time, prior to those little hand held zombie creators.

Would be really simple to wire and make back into a lamp.
