Just wanted to share this find, I haven't got to research it yet, but what was bizarre is it was hidden behind an old medicine cabinet in the wall! I had taken the cabinet down because I wanted it for our beach house to hang up outside to hold sunscreen and what not. Was really surprised when I pulled it off and there was a hole about the size of a postcard with this little thing in it! image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Just to add, it's not too clear in the pics, but it's also stamped Germany.

I've come up with some leads, but I'm not to sure on them. Apparently this mark was heavily copied? Lol I am so bad at sleuthing these things!

No, you're right, the crown over N mark is not copyrighted and can be used by anyone. At least yours says Germany on it somewhere.

From looking at things, it seems the style is Capodimonte, because of the base, but clearly that doesn't match up with the Germany stamp! Or am I way off base? The house this came out of has a really sad story. An older widow let her drug addict only child move in with her so she wouldn't be alone and have someone to help her, then the daughter started stealing from her(probably why this was hidden) but then her daughter ended up passing before her, leaving her alone. When she passed the bank took back the house, it had been paid off, but the woman took out a 2nd mortgage on it paying for rehabs and what not. I think this will go into the church auction pile, let some good come from all the bad in that home!

Yes, probably on of the many copied Capo-di-monte marks. Their marks were well copied into the 20th century by makers in Hungary, Germany, France and Italy. "The Crown and N is one of the most faked marks found today."

What FUN to find it like that though!!! When my parents were tearing down an 1800s house on a property they owned, for safety reasons (my nosey horse had walked in and fallen through the floorboards into the 'cellar' [he was fine except for a broken tail which healed!])....they found a small pottery rum jug and sterling shoe buckles together, in the walls.....I still have the rum jug and the and the shoe buckles are in a museum I think in CT....made by an early silversmith!!!! That was SO exciting!!!!

    Hi,
Talk about finding things in the wall. I was trying to sell my house years ago and a neighbor said I should put a statue of St. Joseph in the yard until the house was sold. I promised the St. that he would always be in the house. Well the house sold two weeks later. So what was I to do with a two foot high plaster saint that had to remain in the house? I thought if a Jewish couple bought the place would they keep it? So I ended up plastering him between the studs in the kitchen behind a cabinet. Years later I thought if the people enlarge the kitchen what would they think of a saint plastered in the wall? I wonder if he is still there?
