Please help me to ID this beautiful Imperial russian gold badge. The item is solid gold and is 2.5 inches tall with ring and key. Is there any meaning to this item? What does the key stand for? When was this item made? This is unmarked gold at 17 grams 20160208_213733.jpg 20160208_213612.jpg 20160208_213502.jpg

Given the pin hinge and roll-over clasp, I suspect the piece is post-Czarest and fantasy.

Are there any gold standard marks on it? It may just be the pictures but it looks recent to me.

A key was the symbol of the office of the chamberlain. I have found badges, etc... of the imperial Russian that include keys, but haven't seen one like yours. Here are links to the chamberlain stuff and such with a keys. It seems each ruler had a different key badge/medal design for the Office of the Chamberlain.

BTW, I agree with the others that it appears relatively recent in age.

I agree with moreotherstuff, a piece of costume jewelry.
    Nice, but not Imperial Russian.

Agreed. Relatively modern rollover clasp and hinges. If it were gold, I'd expect marks and I'd also expect a safety chain, too.

Susan, the catalog in the last link is very interesting. I've saved a copy for later use. Thank you!

I agree with others that the pin on the back of this piece indicates a post-Imperial date of manufacture. And it of course would not have been made in the Soviet Union. So unless it was made in the last 25 years it would have been made elsewhere.

Fig, the site it was on has several Imperial Russian catalogs. Here are other catalogs, etc...

Scroll down the menu on the left to "Past Catalogs."

If it was 'solid gold' I'd expect marks. Sure looks like costume jewelry to me.
