This has been puzzling me for a while! Me and my partner were recently gifted this chair. We have looked online for hours trying to find out what it is and about what time it is from. We have the cushion for it. There are no markings on it either. Any help figuring this mystery out would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Thank you for helping, those chairs are very similar. I'm not sure what the medallion is, our best guess is either a plant or some type of filigree. Here are some pictures of the medallion and underside. Chair small 3.jpg Chair small underside 2.jpg

That "medallion" design is a variant of an Acanthus leaf.

Would think 40s or so. The press-in caning is a later invention so can't be terribly old.

Thanks for the close up and the description. I couldn't zoom in without it being unrecognizable, anyway. I thought it was the head of a soldier or something:joyful:

Yes, it is. But not for long now, because it is mainly made in China.....

thanks a lot. it was more to know if there is a way to decide about the age. but it's also good to know that I could get it if I wasn't so lazy to fix the three broken ones I have.
