    Hi all,

I’ve acquired this stoneware vase, which stands at an impressive 39cm.

The seller thought it might originate from Sweden, but wasn’t sure.

There’s an impression on the base, which is quite faint, but looks like either a hand or a tree, with some unreadable text underneath.

Any ideas who this might be made by?

    Thanks!

What part of the world was this found in? It might or might not help narrow it down.

I know that Gustavsberg used a hand in a G mark and they sre Swedish. I don't know if they used anything like yours though. It could be a tree, or hand, or something else:)

I’m in the UK and bought it in an auction here.

    The more I look at it, I’m pretty sure it’s a hand - there’s definitely five discrete digits…or maybe it’s just a hand-shaped tree, or a broccoli…who knows!

I'm not at all sure about this as the maker but might be worth looking into Kirsteen Holuj. She's in the UK, used a hand mark at one time, and has some dimpled pots on her site. I haven't found an example of her work using the hand mark so don't know what it looks like in use.

Thanks! It certainly looks similar to some of her work - I’ve dropped her an email to check…

If you’re on Facebook there’s an excellent British studio mystery marks group, too.
