Please help ID.this pottery.

Any information will be greatly appreciated. Ive tried for a while to find makers with the name Francois. What does trans even mean? Thank you for your time.

 

Where does it say François? I only see the banner with TRANS.

I think François made it in 1994 -- studio pottery, I guess.

 

Do you have a link to this? I have not been able to find anything about a Francois stoneware.

It looks like a lid to a stoneware crock. How big is it - a little mustard pot, or storage jar? The style of the lettering on "Francois" looks quite streamlined, which might put the origin of the logo, at least, in the 1930s-40s.

 

Or it was model 94, which would be my guess.

 

IXIV doesn't really make any sense in Roman numerals, although as Any suggests it might be used to mean 9 4. If the first letter/numeral is actually an L it might mean 64.
