Steel with Delrin (?) plugs, 5 3/4 x 4 3/4 x 3/4 inches. Digital googology disgorges gobs of hand-held angle grinders but that’s “fake news.” The polkadot surface is likely “exposed” when fastened to its yet-unidentifiable host as indicated by presence of the larger diameter of the socket-head capscrew holes.

Now there's a puzzle. That odd one out on the second row is also puzzling. Any rotating rub marks on the Delrin plugs?

No. Piece appears to have never been uninstalled. The polkadot surface is likely “exposed” when fastened to its yet-unidentified host as indicated by presence of the larger diameter of the two socket-head capscrew holes on that side.

Are the plugs absolutely flush with the surface or do they protrude a little and could act as a sliding bearing surface?

Thanks, that’s it! I was ready to believe it was a self-lubricating brake, which of course is nonsensical, but not totally different from what u found.

That odd one out is a test to see who's OCD enough to avoid it! I know several of my family members who would be annoyed by it.
