Featured Pierced Repousse Egg Cup, Apparently Unmark'd: Origin & Age?

I think it's sterling...but 'tho I've looked carefully, both within & without, no mark has been found. It may be plated, 'tho the points of wear on the 3 feet show no base metal. It's small; ~40mm across the rim. The egg shown in #6 is a US large, and isn't bottomed in the cup as it should be. The feet are finished inside; it looks like the interior of the cup may have a gold wash. It weighs all of 10.7 grams. When acquired it was almost black; I left it as found for many years, then yesterday cleaned it, so to be sufficiently presentable to y'all. In #5, one foot is pointed directly at the lens...I know it looks confusing; my skills are less than professional. Your comments an' suggestions are most welcome; thanks for lookin'!

 

Id have thought a salt or nut dish that lost its liner.

 

I am not convinced that it was intended to be an egg cup.

the way the feet are made, makes me think silver......

look again for marks.....u know they can be notoriously small .....

I like my eggs soft...........and I wouldn't want the yolk running out the bottom or the sides............

 

unusable as a egg cup as egg yolk will discolor the silver to black due to it's sulfur content,

I also see salt pot with the blue liner missing ( and the 'poon
