Photographing pictures

Anyone got any tips on taking photographs of watercolours and prints etc with minimum reflections on glass . I’m using my iPhone to record my collection and getting too many reflections.

 

With my Nikon, I shoot photographs of orchids behind glass by shooting at an angle. You can still capture the whole image. I haven't tried it with a phone, but it should work equally as well. You will have to work to get the correct angle. Try to not have light directly shine on the glass. Use indirect lighting if possible. Perhaps outside using ambient light.

 

I just take away the glass, but then people ask me, "Why do you photograph it without any glass?"

 

Light source at an oblique angle, (best to have one on each side), and in front of the camera (not behind), remove any light sources from behind the camera. If still struggling buy a cheap polariser from ebay and hold it in front of the lens, turn until reflections go then click.

 

for a whole collection I'd have a look at Sony's alpha range. an investment at the start, but certainly also a joy outside snapshots, for details etc..

 

I'd imagine a light tent would help, at least for smaller pieces that fit. I have one, but I don't sell artwork.
