    Hi,
I'm Debbie and am a fan of antiques but was just watching Antiques Roadshow on PBS. It wasn't until I started receiving family pieces from my late Grandmothers houses (both of them) that I actually started researching some of these items.

That research led me to this site and I'm thrilled to join and learn

My first item was my great aunt's and I can not find the forgers sym Serving tray 1.jpg Serving tray 2.jpg Serving tray 3.jpg

Not so sure this is pewter. Looks an awful lot like aluminum.

This is possible. A friend thought pewter so that's what I've done with.

Normally pewter would have the word for pewter (in whatever language applies) impressed.

I have been looking at marks sites for pewter and have not found a match. Unfortunately I have not found an aluminum match either. Early days yet and lots of other members to chime in. Don't be discouraged.

    Hammered aluminum. Typically 1930s-1950s.

Wow, I knew I was in the right place! Thank everyone so much!

And thank you for the information, Pattywithay! It was very informative and makes sense since my Grandmother and Great Aunt were indeed very active entertainers in their time.

That's too bad Janettekay. My parents had a number of pieces of serveware in aluminum. Married in the late 40's, so I guess it was a popular gift item.
