~9" diameter, ~½" high, ~466 grams. Several apparent repairs on the backside, at the rim/bowl chine.

The hallmark is topped with a crown, and the first word beneath it starts with CRO...but it doesn't space out well to make 'crown', to me. Then, at the bottom, I get J....746.
IF those are the last 3 numerals of a date, my guess would be it's when the maker was established, rather than when it was made.

I'm aware that crowns take many forms, and that this one may well be indicative of where it was made. I can only hope.
Perhaps one of you will recognize the mark, and be able to fill in the blanks.

All the conjecture is from my profound ignorance about pewter...it is one metal I don't resonate with, so have mostly ignored. I can't imagine buying this...so have no idea why or how I acquired it.

    Thanks for looking!

I'm gonna steal it. Not for publication, just to print it on a single sheet, for display in my home with other distillations of important thought by superior folks..as you said: a needful reminder. Thanks.
