Pewter candlesticks

If anyone can help with information on these candlestick holders it is appreciated. I think they have 1909 on them or it is just a design. They are monogrammed as well. I cannot find a mark anywhere. They seemed to have a gold wash at some point

 

I'm not seeing pewter in these. Pewter is not normally gold-washed. More likely spelter.

 

I don't think these are pewter either, does a magnet stick?

They look plated to me, hard to tell.

 

Non magnetic.....heavy smell though

 

So what do they smell like?

Likely a souvenir of the Veiled Prophets Ball or Carnival of 1909. Looks to be tarnished silverplate to me. VP souvenir pieces sell pretty well.
