    I think those are Kashmiri.

Looks like a lot of mean and angry. Scary looking.

Someone should have waited until they were in a better mood before picking up their paint brush. So many different mythical creatures in Persian, Iranian mughal culture it's difficult to find these ones. Plus they are someone's own interpretation. I think these are some form of demons perhaps.

Nice box, and it could be antique. I like the Bosch-like creatures.
It looks Indian to me, and creatures from early Hindu mythology. There is Indian brassware with similar creatures, and I used to know where it was made, but can't remember.:(
Those tigers, monkeys, snakes and fish are all found in Indian Hindu art, but not usually associated with Persian art.

I don't see a link with Kashmir though, Kashmiri lacquer generally has Islamic Mughal images and floral motifs.
There are many other regional Indian lacquer styles.

That is your own interpretation.:D Since these same creatures are also found on brassware, I think it is a regional tradition.

Awesome thanks Aj, was thinking about doing a bit of touch up on the top, but if it has age i think i'll leave it be, suppose being papier mache its bound to have some areas of damage
