Featured Persian bone pendant

I have been on a dry spell for a while, and I told myself I m not allowed to buy any pieces online for a few weeks, so I have been cleaning out my hoard instead.
I have had this pendant for a while now, and it came in a junk lot I once bought for a few euro s.
Most of it was garbage, but this made it to my 'nicer than junk but I don't know anything about it'-pile.
While I was going trough my stuff I decided to do some testing and its bail turned out to be 18 carat gold. Who would have thought?
Upon closer inspection its nicely painted, the front that is...
It has some damage and I think it also got some repairs.
Might be Persian and maybe painted on camel bone?
Just having a wild guess because I know nothing of these things.
So, what do you think about my pendant? What period would you think it was made in? And is it really Persian?

Yes to Persian, and very good quality miniature painting, very expressive too. Datewise my guess is early 20th century.

I did the same today and found a coral necklace I bought long ago and discarded as glass. Now it is in the coral pile.
