    I am concerned about the lady who's arm is raised... H5537-L242042896_original.jpg H5537-L242042898.jpg H5537-L242042914.jpg H5537-L242042909.jpg H5537-L242042910.jpg H5537-L242042899.jpg H5537-L242047110.jpg H5537-L242042897.jpg H5537-L242042894.jpg

Her shoulder seems to be dislocated. She should be seeking medical attention.
I dont recommend raising it up like that. Looks painful.

Probably from the '90s or early 2000s. There was a brief vogue for them.

I think the better figures are still collected along with other ephemera from the period.

The block prints are climbing steadily in value, especially the earlier ones.

This is a favourite from my collection that demands respect for women:

I toured mainland China with my sister in 1980, one of a lucky few in the tourist/airline industry. It was very early in the tourism biz there, with brand new hotels being built everywhere. We travelled by train and bus. We were lucky to stay in a couple of 1920s art-deco hotels in Shanghai and Peking, which had not been touched for decades. We also were strictly supervised, with a dour state-sponsored tour guide by our side at all times. We had some unique experiences....once, were taken on a tour of a working commune. Everyone wore clothing like in your piece - only in dull colors like blue and gray. In general, the people were never smiling. Groups of people followed us everywhere in the streets, pointing at our clothes and a few reached out to touch us - especially my sister, who stands over 6' tall. A few of the younger people came up to us to show off their English speaking skills. It is hard to believe how fast China has flown into the 21st century considering that in 1980, it was like visiting a primitive land.

Indeed - and now it is the most technically advanced society on earth! A staggering achievement.

although the one Roaring posted is listed at $800 on ebay the piece I show (looks the same) was passed at auction yesterday. I presume the starting bid was $150 but I did not stay online long enuf to observe that auction. I had enuf to do with superbowl:

Looking at some of the completed listings, it does seem the group figurals seem to do better. With a number of them hitting $150 or more. A couple of figures with more bluer/greyer clay seem to do much better. Other than than I really don't know much about how to value them.

the man looks like he's holding Tom Brady's playbook but its in Chinese so its probably not historically accurate.
