Can't decide whether it this rhinestone pendant looks handmade by a crafter or jewelry maker, or if it's something else. Thinking vintage at least. The necklace, which might or might not be original to the piece is marked 925 in several locations and K.C. (which on a quick search seems to be tied with Italian sterling necklaces.) The necklace has an annoying quality, which is that the little rectangular links get sort of caught on each other and stuck. You just gently shake it and they loosen, but happens a lot.

Mostly asking about the pendant. Has anyone seen similar? Has sort of a naive quality. Thanks.

Here's a shot from the open back:

(Almost looks like it has that "black dot" effect, that is just reflection. The backs are un-foiled and very pointed at the center.)

the chain is an extended box chain......I hate those...

What looks like dirt in the back of pendant is actually a combination of reflection and a bit of magnification of the surface the pendant was resting on believe or not. The wooden outdoor painted (not perfectly clean) surface beneath it somehow got magnified, I now see that in the photo makes it look like the stones need a good cleaning. In the hand the pendant has no dirt, just clear glass and silver. (Note to self: Take a different photo on a clean surface for an upside down photo of this.) Could use a polishing on the silver, though.

What is strange about this is the rhinestone backs, they have SO many facets, at least 20 per stone. It really cut to reflect. It's a strange piece. Not mass produced. Wish I knew the history.

The stones are modern round brilliant cut which has be around for about 100 years. The metal work is a little odd,it has soldered balls for the stone seats and the piece could have been made be a student, hobbyist, etc.

    Chain is irrelevant. ;)

the pendant looks Indian, Middle Eastern. Did you test the stones?

The only test capability is a $12 diamond tester, and I did test, they are definitely not diamonds.

It could be Middle Eastern or Indian. That might explain why I haven't seen similar before. It has both a crudeness, yet some work in it with those soldered balls for stone seats, etc. and all done in sterling. Jeez, I hate unsolved mysteries. Then I feel like I have to hang on to it until I figure it out. Not helpful when moving things along, lol.

The general shape is reminiscent of Indian pendants, but the ajour setting and technique are very different.

Very nice pendant though. I wonder if it is Arts & Crafts?
And I just made things worse.:bag:

It’s got a replacement bale as well. I wasn’t thinking diamond, but was thinking not glass.

I was wondering if it’s one earring but it’s big for that.
