This is a pretty competently made mug, signed and everything. Of course I can't really read the signature, I keep thinking it's Stanton but now that I've got that in my head I'm not able to see anything else. Anyone see something else?

I also thought it might help find the artist if I knew what to call this type of glaze as I'm sure it must have a name. It has quite raised white pebble/lava looking bits over a dark under glaze. One of these days I'm going take a few more pottery classes.

Sorry for the bad photos, I tried taking them with my phone but I need to practice that a bit more too!

I think I heard the terms Schlangenhaut (snake-skin) Reptil or even Kroko (for crocodile) used for these glazes. but as we all know, German and English are not always congruent.

How cool to have an answer, even after so much time has passed!

And speaking of time passing, does anyone know whatever happened to Fid (Fidbald)?

Thanks, SIS. I've been wondering for a while now, but I hated to ask...

I've been off researching a bit online and it looks like the spelling is probably Ian Stainton though some places have it as Stanton. It was great having a name to research, not sure why I didn't find it when I looked back then but I'm so glad to know it now!
