Cologne. In Nippes, near Cologne, Engelbert Cremer and son used an anchor like that, but the anchor was black. Some pieces of doubtful quality are known, according to my porcelain mark book. That was the nearest anchor shape I could find, as quite a few factories used an anchor shape. I remember about 25 years ago pieces appearing with a dubious Celsea gold anchor mark on. Best I can do for you.

Interesting snippet. When I lived in NE Scotland, the coastal folk would never have a peacock in their house. They considered them very unlucky.

I think the tail feathers are supposed to be manifestations of the evil eye?

    Maybe a faux Samson mark?

Samson is a good call. A few years ago we started spotting Samson fakes. We call them faux de faux.

The Closest we got as a kid to seeing one of them were peacock feathers in a vase (Blame my mum).

I didn't know there were wild peacocks in the U.S., but I guess there are in Florida.

He name is Pete. Peacocks are not native to the US, but the ones around here are the offspring of peacocks introduced into the estates of wealthy Los Angeles landowners in the late 1800's. Pete is probably the progeny of the flock that resides in Rolling Hills Estates, a wealthy beach community about 12 miles from my house. We haven't seen his mate in about a year. He is around here a lot and just makes himself at home.

    Hi,
I had neighbors who had peacocks and peahens in South Plainfield NJ. I always loved them.
