Anybody know what this might be? Just brassy metal. About 6 inches long. The dangles jingle a little. I assume the nubs on the back fit into buttonholes. For a waistcoat? A millitary cap? European? India? Thrifted in BC, Canada because I like peacocks and mysteries . Thanks!!!

Looks Indian in manufacture. That's all I've got.

The bell things are a lot like Indian jewelry I have from my mum. And, well, peacocks...

It does look like it should be on a military ceremonial uniform of some sort.

Finally hit upon using “studs” as a search term. “Shirt chain button studs” gave me a bunch of hits for similar modern ones for men’s African shirts. Add “antique” and I get tuxedo shirt studs, some with chains. AND I found the same as mine on Etsy! They are saying 1910 shirt studs and nothing more. Where they got the age, I dunno. I still think India as a region for manufacture so am going to sleuth in that direction.

    I'd say Indian too.

I bought a set new, together with traditional tunics, in an Indian shop in Paris (SONA) in the 70s.
    Mine were fishes:happy:

Thanks all! Fishies would be cute! Think this is solved and I am going to make it into a bracelet somehow
