Have you seen the movement inside yet to confirm authenticity?

If real it may be 40 years old, current PP info may not mention it. It is one of the most widely faked brands after Rolex, so do not get your hopes up. If it came to you for no money that may be just what it is worth. If you inherited it from a wealthy ancestor, you may be in with a chance.

It needs a special case back opening tool that any watch repairer would have. Using improvised devices is not advisable in case it is genuine.

    Your brother seems very generous.

Pure guesswork here, but the back looks odd for two reasons. The etching is faint but not due, apparently, to long wear. The text there is at an odd angle if the back locks on only in one position. If it can be put on at many different angles then turned to lock, as with an interrupted thread, all the odd angle means is that the back has been removed before and the remover re-locked it at a different angle. I’m sure a top-notch watch like PP would be sold with the back text in alignment with line from 12-6 or 3-9. But I'm horologically ignorant.

Thanks everyone Mostly for telling me not to get my hope up too high. LOL
T took the Philippe Patex to the jeweler this morning and had the back unlocked. And the Patek is really a Petex I assume that it is fake because I read on the inside Japan no jewel. Thanks Everyone Your confirmation would be greatly appreciated. image to follow from my cell. I read somewhere that they make all their parts.

Figured as much; that band is exactly right for a cheap Chinese watch and all wrong for a nice one. The best place for this watch is the trash, so no one ever mistakes it for the real thing.
