    It's pate sur pate. Unlike sprigged wares - see Wedgwood - which have a complete motif added, this is built up by layers. Not Parian, but yes, it's bisque. The colour is dipped rather than solid, too. These are often French, also made by companies like Vater und Sohne.

    Yes, brain fart on my part. I was thinking Walther und Sohne conflated with Schafer und Vater. Arg.

    I thought S & V as soon as I saw this. But they are usually marked.
