Not sure if they are carved wood or layers of lacquer. Pewter lining on the inside and bronze band on the outside of the neck. Seems like the shoulders were crafted separately and then glued to the bodies. Everything looks old but no idea when they were made.
Don't know why but I cannot find similar.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

I recall such things from the late 60s into the 70s (Yes...I was 'there') ;) but not at all sure they aren't something else.

Lots of the trees on Ebay, but not in lacquer pots. Try searching "bonsai" instead of "bonzai"

    Jade trees with agate/stone flowers.
I think the pots are meant to imitate cinnabar. Which is a build up of lacquer then carved.

I agree, a lots of bonsai trees but not in such pots.
Not sure what do you mean by imitating cinnabar. Cinnabar is lacquer mixed with red mercury. Those are brown. Chinese had been carving different types of lacquers since early ages.
