Wonder if this was done after an existing window? And the artist name is ...?
    Thanks

Could be a design for a window. I find the very wide glazing bars too obtrusive.

It is a bit of a cheapo job, the artist has simply rotated 1 panel 8 times. Also the bird heading at full speed for the ground inspires thoughts of a thud and a cloud of feathers from a small crater rather than anything up-lifting.

The bird is an entirely religious symbol, but it seems odd to me that it's the only apparent religious symbol. If this design is present in a church or cathedral, the broad black lines would be stonework framing, but I would expect a church piece to have a lot more religious content. Could be for a private chapel or mausoleum.

The window in my childhood church had the dove representing the Holy Spirit in the same attitude - descending from heaven. I don't remember ever seeing one the other way round.

Eight symbolises 'fullness and content', as in "I just ate a good meal"

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Looks like an artist's rendering before the actual stained glass job.......

It looks like a design for a church window. Maybe something to show the prospective church members. The 'bird' represents the Holy Ghost. May be one of a series of windows. If so, it probably has more value as a design if you could find the right church. The words Stained Glass are in English, so it's probably not a European church. Wish I could make out that last word.

    Probably Rudolf H Buenz:
"Buenz first worked in the studio of Otto Heinigke, then at the Brink's studio. He worked briefly in Philadelphia and Boston before opening his own business in Newton, New Jersey. Among his many commissions were windows for churches in New Jersey, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Florida, New York, Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio."

I think the last word is "studio".

The signature is Rudolf H. Buenz, Stained Glass Studio. I knew Rudi from the time I was about 8 until his passing and spent many hours learning the finer arts of Fly Fishing from him. I have several signed original cartoons from Rudi and the signature is an exact match.

Hi Greg, my husband is Rudy’s grandson and you are correct this is his work. These paintings were done to show work that would be done. We are working on an online archive of his work and would love to connect with you.

Welcome, Misty. Greg joined the site the same day he made that post & has never been back since. Think you will have to explore the many Greg Mohrs on the Internet. Maybe the preacher knew Rudy through a church window commission?
