    It's dated 1889. Author's edition.
I am wanting to sell it but could use come information on the difference in it being an author's edition. And how to inform of the grade or condition.
here is some information on him.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

According to a glossary on the Independent Online Bookseller's Association website:

AUTHOR’S EDITION Around the turn of the nineteenth century, many titles in the international book trade were “pirated,” or published without authorization. The “Author’s Edition” let the reader know that the book was published with the author’s approval.

IMO your volume has minimal/no value beyond decorative. Obscure author, later edition. (The book was first published in 1873.) The used book site abebooks.com has 167 hardcover copies listed for sale which is a good indication of lack of demand.

As a guideline, old doesn't correlate to valuable in book selling. And, for the future, abebooks.com has lots of helpful information for book sellers. Here, for instance, is their guide to book conditions.
