Interesting tile that raises a lot of questions about these kinds of tiles.

I once found two different types of art tiles that were obviously vintage.

This looks more like a modern artist's tile.

It's six by six inches. The back is covered in felt.

Looks a little better in real life, from a slight distance. I think I'll take a picture like that too.

You say it raises a lot of questions. How about you ask them.

Oh, just about the type of tile and its market, what kind of artist made it, are there any famous artists working in figurative titles today that aren't straight "fine art gallery" tiles with prices through the roof, etc.

In the style of vintage San Jose Tile co. There were tile companies around 1920s- 1930ish that did nursery ryhmes scenes. I have a bunch of tile books somewhere... I will look for them this weekend.

I would love to know the titles of the tile books. I've never seen one before.

You might try removing the felt to see if it's marked on the back.

I wonder if there is a good technique for that, like a warm iron. I guess it depends on the type of adhesive.
