Other on line sellers say that this is an EAPG piece called Frosted Stork .

I've never seen one before, it's very nice. Wait for tallcakes to confirm.

I found more info! I passed right over it in my one EAPG book. Can you tell me the difference between a "One-O-One" and "Oval and Bar" border? The border on mine can be described as either.

    Thanks.

seems there is possibly uncertainly about the "Frosted Stork" patterns. EAPGpatterns has this particular one listed as 'Frosted Strok #2" with the following statement:
"Iowa City Flint Glass Mfg. Co., Crystal Glass Co. as well as other possible manufactures made a Frosted Stork pattern. Until we obtain better information we are separating the Frosted Stork/Stork/Crane patterns into four groups: Frosted Stork #1, #2, #3 and #4. Sue Slight is currently researching the pattern for her upcoming article to be published in the EAPG Society magazine News Journal, early 2010. We are expecting her findings will be useful in figuring out the attributions for the various Frosted Stork/Stork/Crane pieces. eapgpatterns.com"

not sure what you mean about the 'One-O-One' vs. 'Oval Bar' border. To me the motifs could be described either way but this is not the '101' pattern

Thanks, TallCakes! The pressed glass book I have is the Standard Encyclopedia by Bill Edwards & Mike Carwile dated 2000. The books shows a stemmed celery vase and a platter in the pattern. Both seem to have the same border as mine (though, the tray picture is indistinct). However, the text mentions the two different names for the border without differentiating between the One-O-One and Oval Bar. I'm assuming that 101 and One-O-One are the same name, expressed differently. If not 101, what is my border pattern called?

By the way, my book shows the pattern with the storks facing to the left unlike mine. Is that one of the other 3 differences or versions of the pattern?

    Thanks again!

Patternglass.com website shows the plate with 3 storks facing left. It says:

" This is one of the characteristic Iowa City pattern pieces depicting long legged fowl, variously called Storks, Herons, or Cranes. Many of the bread plates or platters in different patterns were produced with both the oval and bar borders & handles and a floral or plain border...."

About 1/2 way down the page:
    http://www.patternglass.com/Factory/IowaCity/index.htm

FWIW, like TallCakes, I also would not call the border "101" or "One-O-One." I guess "Oval and Bar" should be the name of the border.

is the book you reference the same one mentioned here in the "Alert":
    http://www.patternglass.com/BkStore/bkstore.htm

I would agree that as a motif description 101 and bar-oval-bar could be considered the same 1=bar and 0=oval; so the border is an alternating bar-oval motif.
Looks like the storks face the same direction in the various numbered stork patterns as they are listed at EAPGpatterns.

Hi, Susan: Okay, I'm SO curious now. What does the "101" border you are referring to look like? I've searched on eBay for the EAPG that the sellers mention this border and it looks the same as on me bowl to me.

    Thanks!

Hi, Tallcakes: Yes, I assume it's the same book except mine has a different cover. Looking at the alert page, they don't have any big corrections on the Frosted Stork pattern except to say that the platter shown was made by Iowa City Glass. That's a good reference, though. I'll bookmark it.

    Thanks!

IMHO this border is nominally called one-oh-one, or 101, this name applied before sense was introduced into naming. They are ovals, they are bars, but they also could be called 1 (ones) and 0 (zeros).

Its not something to be concerned about. Who make the plate is something to be concerned about, and I'm not sure that Iowa City made it. The only "catalog" of Iowa City wares is a few hand drawn (pencil) drawings that may have been produced by a salesman who sold wares of various companies.
