This was easy to ID and find info about it, since it's so nicely signed.

I'm just posting for show-and-tell. And... for us boardies to have in our archived hoard of pictures and information.:happy:

What would be good to clean and remove the corrosion, without doing damage to the gilt?

Personally, I would use something like Dawn dish washing detergent. Dry thoroughly, then wipe down with mineral oil. The mineral oil will not get tacky, turn rancid etc, but will inhibit any further corrosion.

I like the appearance now, if u r gonna sell it leave as-is. I know of few states of condition more injurious to an old metal object than "overcleaned." When buyers see that "attic" look they know it isn't a repro and that it is probably fresh to the market, and they put on their bidding shoes. Put in the ad, "wonderful, rich, original patina."
