I am trying to pin down an origin and age of these dangle silver mesh and cannetille wirework earrings. They are about 1 7/8" high and 7/16" wide.

The elongated teardrops are hollow, made of mesh and adorned with dozens of tiny silver balls and coils. I assume it's safe to say this is Etruscan Revival cannetille? And that these pieces were made by hand?

The fronts match but one earring has a less complex design on the back (missing one 7-ball flower, with a 4-ball diamond in its place). There is a bit of damage to some of the mesh but it appears all the ornaments are intact.

The screw top on one appears to read "Sterling" which surprised me a bit as I expected to see some sort of number or country assay mark.

So, anyone have an idea of age and where these were made? I can't imagine the patience and finger skills required to create such pieces. I was challenged enough trying to get clear photos!

    Many thanks! Silver_Cannetille_mesh_drop_ears_5.jpg Silver_Cannetille_mesh_drop_ears_1.jpg Silver_Cannetille_mesh_drop_ears_3.jpg Silver_Cannetille_mesh_drop_ears_2.jpg Silver_Cannetille_mesh_drop_ears_4.jpg

It's like they tried to make them look like metal embroidery. They maybe give a nod to Etruscan jewellery, but I wouldn't call them Etruscan Revival. There may be other opinions. Very interesting.

Cannetille is traditional in many countries, and I suspect this is a reference to a traditional style.
It was not intended as Etruscan Revival, with that folklore look and mesh body.

Thanks! So , no Etruscan Revival, any of a number of countries and unknown age...maybe early 20th century?

I'd have been thinking late 40s to late 50s, but it's hard to be absolutely sure. The earring hardware doesn't look pre-WWI from here.
