The inside lid is a lacquered panel which I assume is Japanese and to my eye seems to be of a nice quality. </p><p><br /></p><p>The box and stand it is set into is made of wood with an ebonised finish, this is further decorated in an oriental style but nowhere near to the quality of the panel in the lid. I am thinking the box and stand was probably made here in England to house the Japanese panel.
