This is a picture of a Jug that was sent to me by a friend. It was found in a box of other oriental ware, but I'm not sure what it is. There are no Marks on it and it stands about 13" high. Does anybody know anything about this type of ware? Thank you in advance!

LOL! I guess it does count!
Funny thing is......In the back of my mind .....I know I have seen one of these before.....and it was in the context of some sort of important discovery, but I can't come up with it. I may be WAY off base.....but you know how it is when something is nagging at your brain and you just can't stop it. Even worse...I don't even know where to start to google something like this!.

Cant see any handles. Not sure whether it was glazed.

In any event I'm having trouble identifying shape and purpose.

Perhaps e-mail to an expert in oriental ceramics, or an auction house that does the same.

If it is very early chinese that may be the best way to identify and get confirmation

Thanks rhiwfield.....I was just thinking about doing that.
There are no handles, and appears to be unglazed clay to me.

I agree, it might be the kind of thing to get expert eyes on.

The person who looks at it might want a photo of the base, as well..
