I would like if someone might be able to decipher the signature at the bottom of this photograph of Omar Bradley and unknown woman (to me). The back reads "Brig Gen ob001.jpg ob002.jpg ob003.jpg Omar Bradley 1955". Thank you.

He was first a Brigadier in the early '40s. In 1955 he should have been "Gen Omar Bradley (ret)". Several grades higher.

It's very likely his daughter Elizabeth.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The signature may be that of the photographer, or of the woman... But I can't decipher it.

Hmmmm... calling him a Brigadier General in 1955 was in error. He was raised to the second highest rank in the army in 1948, General of the Army - 5 stars. "The last man to achieve this rank." The only others to reach their 5th star were Marshall, MacArthur, Eisenhower, Arnold. The highest rank is General of the Armies conferred only on Pershing and on George Washington posthumously.

I really don't know the woman. It might?? be his 1st wife Mary Quayle Bradley, but she looks too young. Appears she had white hair by the 1950s. It is not Rosalind Russell for Russell was taller and definitely not her face.

His 1st wife died in 1965 and he married his 2nd wife In 1966. I don't think??? she is his daughter for don't remember her being that glamorous. I remember his daughter accompanying him to TV shows such as the Johnny Carson show in the 1960s. At that time his daughter looked a bit dowdy.

Oops, just noticed that Terry had pointed out the error in his rank.

I would think signature of paparazzo. But an odd photo in both setting and circumstances. Bradley wrote a memoir; perhaps enlightenment can be found within.

Here he is with Ros Russell at a White House function. Apparently he was a ladies man.
