Old Walnut ?

    Daniel is right on. Oak secondary wood indicates English in origin. True age will take more pictures and more expertise than I can provide.

    Base is a bit chunky for true period. I'd like a better shot of the grain with less glare, if possible. Thick veneer tends to mean older, anyhow.

    Thank you for the replies will get some better photos in natural light and see what exactly I have the joints are lapjoints pinned with wood dowels I thought they were older than dovetails but realise there can be copies.

    Would anyone have a date for this piece of furniture looks to be original .

    Can we get a look at the top head on, the back, drawer bottom from outside, and a look at the carcass underneath without the drawer in?

    Thanks for the additional pics. I think we are seeing 19th century construction. Most likely from the 3rd quarter of the century based on the straight regular saw marks seen inside and the two board top.
