I picked up a collection of buttons, I identified some but still wondering about these 7, especially the first 2 since they look the oldest. Any good ones in here? They are: 29 on the front and unmarked, blank front marked double gilt, an insignia and marked Superieur France, a fancy P and marked Paris G & Cie. 26, a fancy M marked A.G. Meier & Co. Chicago Ill., HD and marked A.M. & Cie. Paris, and LS marked Paris G. & Cie. 26.

Are they French uniform buttons? Maybe @kyratango might now a resource.

    Sorry, no idea:bag:
Perhaps the French ones were livery buttons of grand bourgeois servants.

I have a copy of Hughes &Lester's Big Book of Buttons but I'm not very good at using it. These photos are from it.

I did find a British Infantry 29 button (#12 on the right below). It resembles the 29 button you have so here it is along with a few others.
